Sittin’ Knittin’

The inspiration for this poem came from my grandmother on my mothers side. I often visit an at evening and this is what I observed:

Sittin’ Knittin’,
with the jaws chitterin’,
the blissful chat,
While she sat.
*
TV’s on,
But with attention seldom drawn,
for the work must be done,
if the product is ever to be won.
*
There’s a certain skill in getting the frill,
and huge will,
needed to attain that skill.
*
With all those cots to fill,
there’s no time to sit still,
Thus, when she’s sittin’,
You can be sure she’s knittin’,
