The Himalayan Night

Day is done
the last flying bird is back home
to her chirping chicks
overwhelmed by the earthly attachments

The mesmerizing music of sheer silence
is buzzing in the ever-rainy dense forest
and the hubbub of everyday life has blissfully stopped
in the snow-whitened hamlets
dotted over the heavenly hillside

Sleeping children are up in the fairylands
cheerfully floating across the delicate fluff of clouds
for God has blessed them with sweet dreams
full of fairies full of flowers

In the scary reign of dark
the Himalaya appears to be a snow-crowned king
sitting calm, contentand stoic
like an enlightened Buddha in trance

Night is a dusky damsel
wearing a star-studded drape of darkness
and looking like an eerie enchantress
who frightens and fascinates at the same time
