Dr. Alim Usmani Biography

Dr. Alim Usmani (1931 - 2012) was born in Qasba Kursi on November 8,1931. He was an Urdu poet and lyricist from Qasba Kursi, Barabanki District, Uttar Pradesh, India. His real name was Dr. Mohammed Abdul Alim Usmani, but he wrote under the takhallus (pen name) of Alim. His father Mohammed Naseem Usmani was a famous hakeem of that era.[1] There was a great influence of Persian and Urdu language in his family from the beginning. He lost his father when he was only 4. His ancestor belonged to Amethi but later on settled in Qasba Kursi where his grandfather(nana) Hazrat Shah Najatullah R.A(Rahmatullah alayhi) lived.
After a long time of struggle he succeeded to become a prominent homeopath. He started to compose couplets since he was a student. He had no poetry teacher (ustad) . His main literary work is in the field of Urdu GHAZALS and NAATS. Some famous poet of that time like Sayem Sidanpuri, Kashfi Lukhnavi, Ambae Shah Warsi, karachi, Hayat Warsi, Hamsar Qadiri, Adil Lukhnawi, Tasneem farooqi, Hafiz Salmani, Dr. Ram Kishun Samaji and Ajiz Matvi were his close friends. He had a large friend circle because of his shagufta guftugu BAZM E BAHARE SUKHAN, KURSI, an association of Urdu Poets was founded by him which organized monthly Mushairas continuously for a long time. He was not careful about his work. Only one book DEEWAR, a collection of Ghazals was published in 1995. Dr. Alim Usmani died on May 10,2012 in kursi and buried near the Shrine of famous Saint Hazrat Shah Najatullah R.A.(Rahmatullah Alayhi) [2].
