Dolls And Destiny

This porcelain doll has no sight
her eyes are painted brown
she stares at day as though at night
through a curly head high and round

Sequins and gems on her dress
Though she will never move an inch
Always suppose to look her best
on a sturdy, wooden bench

Her hands will forever grasp air
never to make a fist
tiny fingers always will remain bare
her perfect lips will never see a kiss

Her head is full with cotton
her face is made of glass
her creator long forgotten
he long ago finished his task
