The Universe Knows Me Too Well...

the universe knows me too well
it knows my every move

it can see into the deep corners of my soul
read my thoughts

it knows where i'll go and what i'll do
every moment spent thinking of you
all the dreams that will never come true

you don't need to control me to know
i may dream but will never go

unless...

if i ever hear your voice
calling for me from the dark
reaching out to me through the mist
too hard to resist

just this once
it may be enough to compel
to awaken and frighten me

the universe knows this too
the universe sees it unfold
under its watchful eye
it burns, it burns out, and it dies

like everything under the skies
like everything that came before

and so goes the world
nothing less
nothing more
