the moon shines over
the broken-hearted
the hopeless
the departed
the disenchanted

we all bathe in its glow
the glow it stole
from a star

we walk under its dim light
wondering who we are
and why do we grow
so slow
and why do we sink
so low
until we don't ask anymore

we crack open our chests
and let the moonlight inside
let it flow
let the night
swallow us whole
and put our wicked souls
and minds
to rest
