Esther Williams Poems

There it is again, that question "was it me? "
Numerous occasions I've lowered myself,
I welcomed the evil that is negativity.
Dealing countless blows, hateful and cruel
...

I am a constant battle,
But I won't always break you.
I am always present,
But I won't always take you.
...

I hold a secret, I keep it close
Buried deep but the feeling grows
Is this fear, frustration?
Time spent contemplating countless complications.
...

In empty thought, nothing to distract.
Overcome, encompassed in echo's, fighting inner conflict.
A saviour, exhilarated, relieved!
The missing piece from your puzzle.
...

Patiently waiting, watching as you grew.
The start of something special, the beginning of something new.
I loved you yesterday but you never knew.
Upon your arrival, my spirits lifted from low,
...

These memories will last my lifetime.
Possibly some will live beyond.
Recounting the smiles and laughter,
Passing down the stories of our bond.
...

My confidant and life long friend,
Like all great tales we have a beginning, middle and end.
Now that you're gone, there's this space,
I'm partially empty, knowing I'll no longer see your face.
...

One foot either side of the line
Which way do I go? Will I be fine?
The pull, the push, the constant tether,
What I decide could haunt me forever.
...

A first encounter, meeting by chance
Our first moment, a hopeful glance.
Pursued by conversation, a whimsical advance.
A rendezvous, concealed under the stars
...

Esther Williams Biography

I have always loved poetry. I first discovered my passion for it in Secondary School but as I got older I allowed life to intervene. I started writing again about 2 years ago. Some of my poems are remasters of the ones I wrote many years ago. A fair few are new. There is plenty that impacts and inspires in life. What I write is based on personal experiences but also of those that I hold dear. Some are simply from the corners of my mind or unexpected trains of thought. I aim to inspire others and take them on an emotional journey with me. I try to leave room for those that read my poetry so that they are able to connect in their own way.)

I Choose

There it is again, that question "was it me? "
Numerous occasions I've lowered myself,
I welcomed the evil that is negativity.
Dealing countless blows, hateful and cruel
Living within a society that always points the finger at you.

I mirror the image of what I'm told to be
But what about my idea of perfect or how I see me?
Why can't we all be a little different? Be it inside or out.
Exercise our free will, stand up and shout.
Be it quirky, quiet or damn right outrageous
Blending into the crowd isn't courageous.
Why are we challenged when making our statement?
A permanent tag etched in concrete like you see on the pavement.

I could change and contain my personality,
Become that person they want to see.
But I ask myself, is that really my identity?
Put me down, break me but I'll get back up.
My generation and the next will learn never to give up.
We should motivate and instil confidence,
Not back stab about someones mistake or incompetence.

Why is it always a flaw?
My want, my need to fight and become more?
I envision my own definition of success.
This is my personal journey and I control the progress.
That box, the one that they built for me,

I will remain on the outside, I will choose who to be.
