Secrets I Hold And Secrets Told Poem by Esther Williams

Secrets I Hold And Secrets Told

I hold a secret, I keep it close
Buried deep but the feeling grows
Is this fear, frustration?
Time spent contemplating countless complications.
I feel guilt and what may be shame,
Will you think less, judge or believe it's a game?
I will face this destiny, trust and confess
An event in time that threatens the connection we possess.

I held a secret, I let it go
Brought to the surface my feelings known.
It was need, need to be seen,
My time now focused on being the best version of me.
I felt guilt and shame, you proved it unjust,
There was no judgement, we simply built trust.
Embracing exposure to vulnerability,
I spoke out and set myself free.
In confiding I found release,
On your borrowed strength I found my peace.
