And some things from her past she would rather forget

In a Human World where many must lose for a few for to win
For a better World for all to live in
You have some part to play with yourself you begin
By becoming a better person the power to do good comes from within

In her early twenties in nineteen eighty three
She left her homeplace the Pride of Canovee
Just a few years short of her physical prime
Though this is going back many Seasons in time

With rhyme words i am one who just loves to play
And i add to my numbers of rhymes every day
The rhymes keep coming to me in notebook i jot them down
But never for money or for literary renown

As a boy i heard stories by then aged men
Of heroes of the ambushes at Headford and Tooreengariffe Glen
The rebels of Duhallow and Sliabh Luachra who took on the might of the invading foe
Going back in time to a century ago

My father was a great man Jane she does say
He was a good person in every way
But the man i married Ted to me and our daughter Lucy was so cruel
It was by fear that our lives he did rule

I do my own thing and live in my own way
And i care not what others of me have to say
I cannot afford to buy expensive wine
And what others think of me is their business not mine
