You feel that the World is against you and nothing for you is going right
And life for you is a great battle but you are growing tired of the fight
And only the will to keep living is helping you to hang in there
Just for to survive you must struggle down in your black pit of despair

The clock on our lives ever ticking and ticking and ticking away
And we all have a date with the Reaper for each of us a final day
Some do not even live to be twenty and some live to be old and gray
One day we must return to Nature and in Nature's bosom we will lay,

You feel a bit down of late for life on you is tough
But you may as well start smiling for life is short enough
The good times and the bad times we meet along life's way
And who knows that tomorrow it may be your lucky day
...

Life it goes on as usual beyond that far southern shore
And the cars and trucks buzz to and fro between Millstreet and Rathmore
And the dipper he is singing in the silver tongued mountain rill
That babbles down the high fields by ancient Clara hill.

What I pen is not poetry I only call it stuff
And it does not bother me at all If I'm not seen as good enough
I am an addictive rhymer I've said so much before
And now that the urge is on me I will go and pen some more,

He works hard and he drinks hard and his is not an easy life
And he has lived alone for the past ten years since his long suffering ex wife
Went off with another she has found love at last
She had grown weary of his drinking and he is of her past.

The travellers parked their horse drawn vans at the Shannaknock cross when I was a young boy
And recalling such good memories is a thing I still enjoy
And though their colorful Romany caravans are no longer to be seen
Good memories last a life time and we recall what has been.

On Summer and Autumn the old paddocks brown and bare
And the buzzings of bush flies in the air near the small Countrytown
Now in the depths of Winter the paddocks looking green
But not even one bush fly is to be heard or seen

Others you just cannot seem to impress
And you have low self esteem from your lack of success
But why worry if others your praises don't sing
Since success after all is a relative thing,
...

I've travelled far though others have travelled further
From the spot where their life journey began
And one might say I've done my share of travelling
But in truth I am not a well travelled man.
