And what is life about at all if we die and are no more
If there is not another World beyond this Earthly shore
When the reaper claims the life from us it will not matter to us at all
When in Nature's bosom we do lay if none our name recall.

My friends of past decades you were good to me
And may you know of love and may you live carefree

Once more the poor fringe dweller is a victim of the snub
She was not made to feel welcome in the mutual admiration club
But of course they have their standards you must know what i mean
On their gents and ladies toilet walls a potrait of their queen.

And though i envy the birds their freedom of the sky
I pity all poor creatures that run or jump or fly
They live in fear of people from us they hide away
And many die because of us that does seem sad to say.

The years have left him looking gray
And he has known a far better day
Around his balding head he has lost more hair
As he battles his dogs of despair.

We'll always have the haves and the have nots society is structured that way
And the poor keep getting poorer that does seem sad to say
And the wealthy getting wealthier with the passing of each day
Though their fair share of taxes they never seem to pay.

The spirit of life is to live for as long as you can
For brief very brief indeed is our life span
And time for us it never does seem to wait
And on each one of us there is a use by date,

As darkness it is gathering above the ancient hill
The loud bray of a donkey cuts through the evening chill
And in the nearby paddock the spur winged plovers cry
All in the calm of the evening as darkness cloaks the sky,
