Those happy Morris dancers make for a happy sight
They wear bright scarlet ribbons and their shirts and trousers white,
They clash their sticks whilst dancing and you hear the timbers ring
Though 'twould seem that Morris dancing is not a female thing.

He would kill and eat their baby birds the songbirds seem to know
So they do their best their very best to frighten off the crow
Their babies from such an awful fate they risk their lives to save
They even mob the bigger bird they are so very brave

He always does look very sad and alone
And a laugh out of him like drawing blood from a stone
That he does not have friends no need to wonder why
That serious people do not draw people to them to him does apply
...

If I should die tomorrow say only this of me
In Nature's marvellous creations great beauty he did see
He found some joy in writing reams of stuff he did write
Though none of it is memorable or worthy to recite
...

The good mother does not raise her child to plunder and to kill
But to live as a good person live and never do others ill
And that her daughter and son be successful is every mother's dream
But not everything in life does go to plan at least that's how it does seem
...

You know your true friend when you are in most need
For like 'tis said such a friend is a friend indeed
One who stands by you when you are feeling down
A cash strapped and depressed poor soul of the town
...

If there's a God that God in her does live
So much of herself to others she does give
She is always helping those of help in need
Far more than good a great person indeed
...

Should it really matter what you think of me
I am an Irish person that is all I can be
Born and raised in Claraghatlea a mile from Millstreet Town
That remains as my only claim to renown.

And thought your views on life may be all wrong
That the group of friends which you had known for some years
Is not the group to which you should belong.

For the potato picker life is tough
He knows what it's like to live rough
The work is hard, the pay is small
One could hardly call it life at all.
