I stand by a river
the water rushing past me
some spilling to caress my feet
it was so even then
...

Time had not healed the wounds, so deeply cut
The scarlet blood still oozes out to redden the soil
The cries have ceased, tears have dried
unheard and uncared for so long

Mother

I stand by a river
the water rushing past me
some spilling to caress my feet
it was so even then
long past, several years ago
playing on its banks
picking flowers rounded stones
with my mother standing by
laughing at my childish games
To me her laughter seemed like heaven
her face shone with love
and her hands folded me in a warm embrace
i do remember the days
when I cried on her lap
my face in the folds of her dress
and her hands wiping away my tears
her words washing away the stains of my sins
her face then seemed angelic
like a goddess, come to bear away my pains
now it seems
she was like the river
caressing, comforting and helping
her face, i realise was my strength
to brave the odds, her laughter
my fuel to tread the untread paths
now, i stand again besides the river
my eyes straying away to the place
she sits, to say thank you
for all that she was and would be
for me
my own dearest guardian angel
