Gordon Merritt Poems

Grey blue is my world
Colors of my dreams
looking into me
Like reflections in a stream
...

Think of every love song
that ever touched your heart
Put them down on paper
and select the sweetest parts
...

3.

Tis sad, words to far and distant to be heard
Sentiment of a bygone era, to faint to hear but for the chosen few
Too few now to be counted and I fear too soon gone.
...

4.

I think that all the angels
In heaven up above
Must know that one has left them
For she's my one true love
...

Grey skies turn to crystal blue
Each time I see your face
Your lilting voice is softer
Than the finest silk and lace
...

6.

If suddenly the stars stopped shining
and the sun left the sky
I would not miss them.
...

As long as men have eyes
There will be someone to adore you
For the beauty of your face is
like the setting sun as it kisses the water
...

Late at night
as I look into the heavens
I feel a gentle breeze stir
and I breathe in your dreams
...

Perfection…
wrapped in a silken cocoon
Oh how I await the beauty that emerges
when the silken cocoon is shed
...

10.

Lips quiver
fingers
softly trail
shivers
...

i took my love out walking
along the river Rhine
i gave my love a picnic
of camembert and wine
...

Gordon Merritt Biography

My name is Gord and I am a published poet. I am currently submitting my first book of poetry 'Pieces of Me' for publication, wish me luck! I am 52 years young and started writing poetry when I was around 14. I must admit my first poem was written to a girl and wasn't very good, I made all the classic mistakes and it didn't leave very much of an impression. I have always been an incurable romantic and over the years I have learned the proper way to listen to my heart when it comes to poetry. With a lot of trial and error and a lot of rewrites, I finally succeeded in writing my first real romantic poem... A million love songs. From then on there was no looking back. I have many unfinished poems which I will eventually get around to finishing. I am currently single and living in Markham, Ontario Canada and working as a chef (cooking is my other love) . I am also currently writing songs.)

Colors

Grey blue is my world
Colors of my dreams
looking into me
Like reflections in a stream

Silken shining halo
Frames a perfect face
Beauty so divine
Defying time and space

Heart of amber gold
Sweet as morning dew
Welcome to my world
I can't believe it's true

Colors of my passion
Painted on my heart
All because of you
My favorite work of art
