thunder cracks

Stuck in the ER again, transferred
from the rehab Kafka torture den
a shipwreck that sent me crashing
down - again - into the maelstrom
...

And so you set me on to write a sonnet
For your pleasure (and mine own, dear sire,)
But more, I trust, a feather in the bonnet
Of a city that doth heights inspire
...

Welcome stranger, friend, unto our shire,
This goodly glade wherein we play our faire,
And fairly play, we trust, that you'll admire
The Pageantry unfurled before you here.

Stranger in town, I am alone
as I leave the Harvard COOP
(rabbit warren of books, books, books)
pleased with myself and with my find

I would not hurt thee, this I fain would say
When questioned toward my truest of intent;
I fain would tell thee thou must go away
Or e'er my heart, or thine, should thus be rent.

What is this dance that weaves
its way amid our revelries
amid the pennants jubilant

Greg Bell Biography

Greg Bell has been writing poetry all his life as a matter of necessity. It took a critical illness & near-death experience to renew his dedication to the written and spoken word. In addition to his poetry collection, 'Looking for Will, ' he is author of the plays ‘Alms for Oblivion’ and ‘Polestar.' He now facilitates the Green Poets Workshop at Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center in Venice, CA.
