faire Song Poem by Greg Bell

faire Song

Welcome stranger, friend, unto our shire,
This goodly glade wherein we play our faire,
And fairly play, we trust, that you'll admire
The Pageantry unfurled before you here.
For herein do we raise our cups in cheer
To Celebrate the Sacred Rites of Spring,
To toast the coming bounty of the year,
To let each bell and heart with laughter ring!
So tumble in and look upon array
Of breeze-flung banners, colours' riotous dance,
The lads and winsome lasses who hold sway
With beauty that's for aye and aye Romance.
The Queen brings revel music for the May;
We trust you'll have a jollity today!
