The Jester

In the dream you were a jester
Along the way to entertain a queen
Stopping by.

I didn't seem to know you
Misplaced. Standing
Half hidden-taunting
Under the threshold
Of my bedroom door

And how you were rapt
In pinks, purples, lavenders
Posed to arouse
Some familiar banter

Not until he lay
Upon my bed
Arranging lanky white legs
Shifting crafty
Green eyes
As a child might
As you do
Did I then know

And with that
The arms surrounded me
A soft groan escaped me

Awake
Frightened and
Alone
