Stepping into the tribal circle
Preparing to dance.
Now, it’s the time
Now, it’s my chance.

As the weekend comes near
My heart is filled with not fear
But with happiness that powwow is almost here.
When Friday comes around
...

I think about you everyday
Shed a tear in everyway
Didn’t understand at first
Now, I know you are with no pain much worst

Walking into the department store, the jewelry calls my name.
As I make my way to the section of jewels, they blind me with their shiny beauty like meeting another car on the highway.
First, I see the dangling earrings hanging on their limbs like leaves.
The different colors, paints a beautiful, bright rainbow in the air.

The Beat Of The Drum

Stepping into the tribal circle
Preparing to dance.
Now, it’s the time
Now, it’s my chance.
Boom, goes the drum
Alerting me of what’s about to go on.
The sound starts to continue.
This is something I’m into.
With the rushing of my heart
My feet begin to make art.
The beat of the drum whispers a sweet, hum.
To hear the music in my ear
Makes me realize my heritage is very dear.
As the sound begins to die down,
My smile turns into a frown.
Now, all I can do is dream of what next time may bring.
