The Wolf's Shoes
For good victims, I hunt all day;
I make it seem like child’s play.
Independent, with no one to hinder me;
When facing the largest of bulls or even the smallest bee.
But no one to rely on, even as the forest comes alive
And traps me like prey, ignoring my efforts to survive.
I dart through the wind, the cold dampness hitting my face
As I smell the odor of wet fur and blood, and begin a new race.
I find the fox just as it flees from its error;
But it instead has its white coat dyed red in terror.
