The Wolf's Shoes Poem by Jake PadinhaBrotons

The Wolf's Shoes

Rating: 5.0

For good victims, I hunt all day;
I make it seem like child’s play.
Independent, with no one to hinder me;
When facing the largest of bulls or even the smallest bee.
But no one to rely on, even as the forest comes alive
And traps me like prey, ignoring my efforts to survive.
I dart through the wind, the cold dampness hitting my face
As I smell the odor of wet fur and blood, and begin a new race.
I find the fox just as it flees from its error;
But it instead has its white coat dyed red in terror.
At night, I sleep alone;
Trying to face the fears of my own
The absence of friends has made me efficient
Though, even I cannot say I am omniscient
In the path to wisdom I’ve lost my friends, to my shame;
For I later found out that the two are one and the same.
