Our family was gathered at the table;
pale moon was softly shining through the trees.
We listened to the story of the stable,
around our home there was a gentle breeze.
Oh what a wondrous tale that was we heard:
the songs of angels on that holy morn
rang out so happily with joyous word
of how the baby, Jesus Christ, was born;
of shepherds sitting quiet in the moonlight,
when trumpets blew and great light filled the sky;
and wise men travelled far that they may sight
God's marvellous creation, where He did lie.
