After crossing paths with a parent of two of my former students
it instantly occurred to me…

When we are young…just starting out…as little girls and boys
Why is it important for us to feel happiness and joy?

Why is it important at least one time every day

They walk a different path each morning
as a new day's begins to glow..
They fill a picnic basket and they drive
It doesn't matter where they go.

I pass this lovely bougainvillea every day and am happily aware
how a bush this bright and beautiful can exist with oh so little care.

It is a fact of nature…one we can't dispute

Is there anything more beautiful
than a smile
that rises out of tears…
or more gratifying
...

He can't explain it logically
but once he found her…
the person he adored
his heart felt like it grew…

We were celebrating our granddaughters birthday
with games and cake and cheer
when she tapped me on the shoulder and asked,
PopPop, how old are you this year?

We watched the sun rise on the west coast of Florida
over a landscape vast and wide
Then we drove 200 miles across the state
to watch it set on the other side.
