For Toby

My favourite moment, our evening drill,
Begins with our climb up the steep wooden hill,
Like two little monkeys we jump into bed
We share the same pillowcase head touching head,

The Darkest Hour

Prescribed what we may read or watch
And who be seen or heard.
And if we seek non-sanctioned thoughts
The books we need are burned.

Lifelong Pals

I've always looked down on you, sorry old mate but we can't always chose what we're good at.
And it seemed sort of natch to act more like the boss, but I knew you were not to be laughed at.

Competing with my heart,
Drowning affirmation,
All comfort ripped apart.

The Ugly Youngster (With Thanks To Hans Christian Anderson)

There once was an ugly youngster.
Wearing clothes that his mother had bought.
And the girls he met would frown and fret.
Then leave him all distraught.
