john robson Poems

Folks I know, are disappearing one by one.
They turn to gold in their autumn years
Wise on life's lessons
unable to avoid the inevitable.
...

YOU ARE MORE WARMTH TO ME THAN THE SUN,
MORE LIGHT THAN THE MOON.
YOU GIVE ME MORE LIFE THAN AIR,
MORE NOURISHMENT THAN FOOD.
...

I am so glad,
you came this far,
into my head.
You voyeur,
...

We sat opposite
and prepared to dine.
God how i wanted to make you mine.
My conscience battled wrong versus right,
...

'Let's drink a toast, to love', she giggled,
then drank the full glass
with a thirst that was hunger.
Her mouth more red and richer for it.

john robson Biography

Absolute amatuer. A medic by trade (ex army) I enjoy words that are intricately strung together to make wonderful sentences that hang like diamond necklaces in the air like shining stars in a warm dark starry sky. My favorite wordsmiths are Thomas P. Lynch, Oscar Wilde and Shane Koyscan. all comments and suggestions welcome as I really do not know what I'm doing. When I have the time (as if anyone ever has) I should take a few lessons in structure and verse. Although I am a man, you should expect the poetry of an infant, as I am a child in this field of wordy dreams. thank you all.)

I Hope I Die Looking At The Sun

Folks I know, are disappearing one by one.
They turn to gold in their autumn years
Wise on life's lessons
unable to avoid the inevitable.
Dignified they seem,
remembering,
folding and packing away the memories.
In the meantime
'Living for the now'.
Life's little pleasures,
smiles, laughs, story-telling,
kind words, nice cup of tea.

Timely winds of gentle destiny
will bend the tree
Then fall they, like the leaves of a sugar maple
on a sunny day.
Glorious, shining, slowly, downward drifting
Floating, falling, slumber.
Not without life, but not breathing
You will never be broken again.

Dig now, fill later, adverts state.
I'd rather not, thank you.
Bury me where I drop or don't,
I won't have a notion to care
The earth will welcome my body
Assimilating minerals to ore, flesh to insect feast.
molecules atoms and quarks
the great circle of life and all that,
nothing is wasted, earth, the ultimate recycler.

As the autumnal leaves rustle in remorseful
and grateful applause,
sobbing bereavement from loved ones and hoaxers.
The irreverent cries, and the silent sighs'
of relatives graveside calculating profit from loss

One day, those who lie will be old too.
An empty promise is more than just hollow
It creates a vacuum.
Avoid dishonesty and regret,
and the earth will welcome you warmly.

'Whisky shall be the death of me' I remarked once to a stone but it never said a word to me so i left it well alone.
