Drinking With Andria Poem by john robson

Drinking With Andria

'Let's drink a toast, to love', she giggled,
then drank the full glass
with a thirst that was hunger.
Her mouth more red and richer for it.
Second glass raised
'this glass is to my life and you in it'
She drank more slowly this time.
Red shines the wine in the candle light.
Now pulsing through her pale body and blushing her skin.
The crystal glass sparkles too,
like her eyes in mine.
'lets drink another, for no other reason than love'
carelessly spilling it, our crimson passions ran
between giggles and laughter, between cuddles and kisses.
Then in a fleeting moment, frozen for a while.
I truly saw her, as she was, as she always wanted to be.
I glimpsed her thoughts her wishes her love.
embarrassed she turned her head
and gazed into the empty glass.
her head full of sunshine and grape.
'this one, is for you my love' she said softly
taking the bottle and and dripping the last drops onto her tongue.
finally she got to taste the wine
and thinking how full and sweet it was
the vessels were empty and done.
sleepy she lay her head upon my chest.
