time is a thief
a thief of love, breath and living
life slips away on cat's feet
silent it goes without fanfare

Take me to a place where the breeze is warm
and the child in me is reborn
to days of sunny skies after rain
that call to me and I am thrilled again
...

I'm a little on the shy side
self conscious, you could say
I don't ever feel like I fit
best to stay on the outside
...

The day dawns raising some hopes
and brightening other's outlooks
even over and amid mounting fear
of the next day
...

He was only thirteen years old
with coal-black hair
he was the youngest of four brothers and two sisters
they all spoke Spanglish
...

The tramp living on the street looks
vaguely familiar but he has not always been
a homeless vagrant, once he was on the battlefield
in WW11, Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq or Afghanistan
...

All I want is to see you
in the azure sea of our future
to caress you and your hair
in the golden sunset of tomorrow
...

Not once has the sun risen
without the singing it's herald
Never has the sun gone down
when the birds did not sing of it's passing
...

Somewhere a sailor shuts out the sunrise
and speaks to himself,
'my dreams have come and gone, I cannot bear
another day without hope'
...

You have a humming bird nest in your heart
and meadowlark beauty in your hair
You have butterfly breath in your perfect mouth
with sweet lips tasting of clover honey
