Julia Woodman Poems

Come and see inside my mind
there's strange things of many kinds
twists & turns and alleys blind
& some that stretch past all the sides.

My sway is so wrong
I could mountain a fall.
My laugh is so what
its not matter at all

If some things arise
that don't seem very sure
it's not often wise
to lie flat on the floor,

No longer shall I wear
pain, suffering -
these belong to the ego
controller -

If I look to the world with hearts in my eyes
Then surely I'll be intrigued and inspired.

If I touch the world with hearts in my hands

The world is a wide place where we stumble like children learning to walk. The world is a bright mosaic where we learn like children to see, where our little blurry eyes strive greedily to take in as much light and love and colour and detail as they can.

The world is a coaxing whisper when the wind lips the trees, when the sea licks the shore, when animals burrow into earth and people look up at the sympathetic stars. The world is an admonishing roar when gales chase rainclouds over the plains and whip up ocean waves, when people crowd into cities or intrude into dazzling jungles.

Rain Is Falling. Winter Approaches. I Drive Towards It. In The Slow Rain. In The Semi-darkness. Cello Music Is Playing In The Car. The Deep Sad Sound Of The Cello. It Almost Swamps Me. Routine Endeavours To Swamp Me. The Everyday Paying Of Bills.

But I Paint Men Walking In A City Of Icebergs And Crystal. Some Of The Icebergs Are Red. I Paint A Woman Swimming In Green Wavy Water. Surrounded By Desert Mesas. Bright Orange In The Sunlight. With Darker Orange For Shadows.

I am torn apart
by the consequences
of the inevitable -
until all that's left

The black dogs
eat people from
the inside out -
Fear, Hate, Depression.

And the world will be born again
in circles of steaming breath
and beams of light
as each one of us directs

She went spangling through the meadows
like a serependitious toad -
she thought it was far better than
going via the road -

Inside Our Heads

Come and see inside my mind
there's strange things of many kinds
twists & turns and alleys blind
& some that stretch past all the sides.

There's lumps n bumps & smooth bits too
in & out of both me and you
there's scary things worse than on the news
and there's lovely things both pure & true

but take a look inside your head
just before you go to bed -
endless paths of knotted thread
weirder than any book you've read.

Sometimes it's better to show our vulnerability / pain / regrets so others don't think us impervious / unapproachable - be real / open.

Try to forgive by trying to understand how it would feel to be in the other's shoes. If someone hurts you - ask them - "What hurts you so much that you would do this?

There isn't a good side and a bad side of you or of anybody, so there's no need to be at war with yourself or anyone or anything at all.All we are is a bunch of dozy people in the process of waking up.All we really need to do is try gently to be open to continuing that process. It's no good getting worked up about stuff - it's better to relax and laugh at our mistakes, then figure out how to learn from them and move on.

Words to intrigue, inspire, examine, question, praise; Words to help us appreciate our world, our selves, our games; Words to dance our true soul fires gracefully free.

The world is full of confusion and contradiction. We cannot expect to do anything that is absolutely right. We can only measure rightness by the truth within ourselves. And our own truth will never be quite the same as somebody else's.

We are consciousness examining and expressing itself so that it can become increasingly aware of its infinite capacity for being and evolving.

Love yourself enough to take care of your health of mind, body, and soul as a top priority, then you'lll be fit to face anything.

Find your truth and make your existence real as you choose it. Your creation is your own greatest gift.

What destiny is there, but to sense, observe, merge, re-emerge, Empty, yet filled, spreading everywhere, inside, outside, in. Pulsing, fluctuating, breathing as part of one being, Whispering, feeling, reflecting, flowing between hot and cold, Mineral and plant, dark and light, love and fear, new and old.

Can we be clear about who we are, what we want? Can we be fully present in our truth, and communicate that? Can we understand each other?

Personal truth differs from one person to the next, so how can truth itself be a constant? At least we can listen to each other in truth?

GRACE is a word we can keep in our minds when we walk, dance, swim, talk, sing, do anything at all - to enable us to get in 'the zone' where everything flows more easily - where everything feels lighter, and we are in a peak state. Grace allows us to follow our inner guidance - be true to who we are - and give our gifts lightly to the world. It's one of those magic words!

If you are present, then you can see that you give yourself presents in each moment that you can unwrap and thoroughly enjoy - the amazing world around us that we can explore, each incredible detail, the lives, and the stories we tell ourselves or experience so that we can feel what it's like to be human, the things we can learn from an interaction, about ourselves as well as everything and everyone else. Everyone is here in their own story, writing the script as they go, living the movie picture.... choosing who to meet, what to do, how to react to each new experience. We each find our own tools to help us traverse the terrain of each particular part of our journeys. It cannot be right to judge another, or yourself, for we are all at different stages, or on different stages. We do as we need to according to where and how we find ourselves, but the more you realise that you actually put yourself exactly where you are in each moment, the more your eyes will widen. You are an amazing Being playing the game of life - your attitude makes all the difference.

I constantly yearn to celebrate life & its infinite manifestations, to examine the details of everything including the human heart & mind.

'When you realise you are just as ridiculous & just as ‪#‎special‬ as everyone else, you love them all.'

'I let go of all that I had thought was wounded, for there is no ego to wound, no ego to hold on with; there is only love & freedom to love.'

'To lose a problem, do not oppose, let go of any need to control, perhaps it's all an illusion we project, more like a game we play than real? '

'Allow The Light To Fall Across You. Shadow Or Sunlight. Allow It To Define Your Shape. In Its Way. Another Day It May Be Different. It Surely Will Be. Are We Ever The Same? Is The Light? And The Way A Form Presses Into The Grass? '

'Grappling With Some Small Understanding Of This Place, This Time, We're In'

'Breathe In That Vital Connection To The Life Source And Sensual Beauty Everywhere. Feel Loved And Strong.'

'The Holy Grail Is Within You - Find Your Inner Treasure.'

'When He Is Born, A Baby's Head Is Filled With The Knowledge Of Space. The Circumference Of His Skull Is As Infinite As The Twirlings Of The Universe. His Eyes Look Out With The Blur Of Eyes Which See For All Species. He Has Remembered His Own Nature From Past Patterns. Now His Heart Beats Through Rock, Sky, Oceans. He Feels The Silence And The Sound All Around The World Beneath His Skin.We All Hold Somewhere Deep Within Us The Truth We Accepted In Innocence. The Seas, The Forests, The Soil, The Atmosphere, Are All Vital Parts Of An Ongoing System. By Harming Any Part Of It We Must Ultimately Harm Ourselves. It Is That Simple.'

'My Body Is Filled With Sand. The Heavy Grains Flow From My Eyes And Seek Somewhere To Fall.Speak To Me Friends. Tell Me I Am Free To Go Now, For I Need To Sit Alone In The Sun On The River Bank, Juggling Pebbles.'

'Needing To Express What It's Like Here.... / Trying To Digest The Incoming Stream.... / And Dream It All Over Again.'
