A Successful Flight

Soaring high up in the sky
dancing on the clouds
as it stalks its prey
ready to strike at any moment
waiting for the perfect move
the perfect kill,

It sees its prey
ready to strike, it dive
faster and faster it falls
spreading its talons
ready to eat
and when you think it’s going to crash
it swoops, the prey in its talons
a magnificent sight
a successful hunt
for it takes its prey back to nest
to the little ones waiting for a meal
and as it feeds these little ones
the sun rises
the horizon a beautiful color
perched atop the trees
waiting for the next night
the next hunt
to satisfy its hunger
its hunger for prey
waiting for the next day
protecting the little ones
so they may live another day
to hunt like their mother
to be beautiful in their own way
soaring up high
ready to strike
for all they know how
is to be a hawk.
