Magnificent Beast Poem by Kaleb Hobelman

Magnificent Beast

Gliding through the water
feeling the cool of the ocean
this beautiful beast

As though the heavens are in awe
this beast flails out of the water
showing its colors to the sky

A meal it sees awaiting far away
for it to be such a free meal
it must be a trick

The beast knows not of the danger ahead
for it follows this meal
hoping to satisfy its hunger

At the right moment, it strikes
a pain in its lip, a sudden jerk forward
it has fallen for the trap laid

As it fights for its freedom
it fells a fear, a fear like no other
that this beast may die

It jumps high into the sky
and sees its foe
a being with a stick holding on tight

This fear grows and grows
as it nears the floating mass
and can think no other thought but to die

and as the beast is pulled by the hands
of a mysterious man
the fear has reached its peak

The pain subsides and is held for a bright flash
as it feels the cool water once again
the fear is no more

For this beast is free to once again swim
as the being was so kind
to let it be alive and live another day

As the sun starts to set
the fish thinks of
what a magnificent beast it has seen.
