She was 87, She lived her life, So long so free, She was my grandma. We all wish she didn’t have to go, But I suppose its better this way She went peacefully lying in a hospital bed. She had reached impasse in life. It had been the perfect day with almost all of her family When she decided to go, She was still thinking of everyone but herself Waiting till nearly everyone had gone for the night The only new left were my aunty and two cousins, Feeding her coffee with a spoon She slipped away silently and without a fuss Her wishes were to have a happy funeral To celebrate her life So we gave her just that. Even though every one of us just wanted to cry For the beautiful natured lady Who had given so much and asked for nothing in return. We were all crying inside The only regret I have is that in the past year I have hardly seen her at all It seemed like the only time I saw her was when she was in hospital
