Katherine Cote Poems

The early morning hours
Walks in the fields
The ring of his laughter
The gait of his walk
...

Memories slip in at this time of year
As back through the years we peer
The farm was always the place to be
For my brothers, sis, mom, dad and me.
...

Happy birthday big sister of mine
Thinking of you line by line

Thank you, for helping me all the times that were tough
...

In 1941 and 42, my parents joined the Air Force
To cook for thousands was their course
There in the kitchen each other they found
And soon into marriage they were bound.

My Family In Me

The early morning hours
Walks in the fields
The ring of his laughter
The gait of his walk
I see
My father in me.

The pride of the Veterans
Flows strong in me.
And when I look deep inside
What do I see?
I see
My mother in me.

As the soil gives birth
With the warmth of the sun
I lose myself in
The serenity of the garden
And see
My aunt in me.

And oh! When I turn
Surprised, alarmed and stern
On my face, they clearly see
My gramma in me.

In witty times
When I quickly respond
With a wise crack or two
I see
My brother in me.

Many things we share
Not only in looks
But actions a few
And so I can't help
but see
My sister in me.

Now as we gather around
To enjoy family times
Watching the wee ones
I see
In this family, the roots
Run deep and strong
And as I contemplate life
Which I often do
I see
My family in me.
