Mom And Dad Poem by Katherine Cote

Mom And Dad

In 1941 and 42, my parents joined the Air Force
To cook for thousands was their course
There in the kitchen each other they found
And soon into marriage they were bound.
Then later on back to Kennedy they ran
With many hopes and dreams their farming began.
The years were rough and hard on all
To us in this age it would appal.
They struggled on through the coming years
Being so brave, never showing their fears.
They raised six young'uns on a meagre amount
For many a year, nickels and pennies they did count.
Tho' money was short, love we never did lack
As I'm sure you'll find when you look back.
Tho in words we never expressed we cared
Deep down inside, it was mutually shared.
So in this poem I'd like to confess
My love for you both is more than I can express.
