The Seven Deadly Sins Poem by Kathlene Ann

In human nature the seven deadly sins are always present, though they often hide.
Sloth, Gluttony, Lust, Envy, Greed, Wrath and Pride.
Passion was sown into human nature at birth
So the race would continue to populate this earth.
Many guzzle more food than they must,
But does that make gluttony a worse sin than lust?
Some are too lazy to live or chase dreams,
To fight for happiness by any means.
People's desire for more than they posses
Can never be stopped. It is limitless.
The coveting of other people's possessions enriches human greed.
Jealousy sometimes counters sloth, but in doing so incites selfish deeds.
Acts committed while angry lead to rashness and regret.
Wrath, spawning often from envy, is always a threat.
And last, but not least, is haughty arrogance.
Small victories over-fill many people with self confidence.
Most persons avoid these 'sins' to some extent,
But by human definition no one is completely innocent.
