The Best Poem Of Katlego Maake

Time's Bitter Sweet Time

Quick like a flesh it passed,
I was there, only to be, in hiding.
quack... quack like a lost drake it wailed,
I was there, only to be, in hiding.

I slid away, laid low with my eyes fixed,
catching small like-flies within their fluttering stealth.

It was then, amidst us- crossed selfless sight,
it fled away, away...it went like a meteor.

My eyes frozen like waters in the gutter - with rust beneath them,
a wonderful flattened flattery...a thing not might,
but yet bright.
