Kirstyanne SharkeyDaly Poems

Let’s play a game,
guess my name and live.
Landscapes evolved
yet I remained.
...

Mass graves pile on high
As politicians wage wars
And soldiers die
...

As the cold of the storm settled in our hearts
it settled our resolve, the dropping mortars wouldn't win
while we lived and breathed on our own soil.
...

Be it white, blue or yellow, pink, purple or green
That has to be the worst thing I have ever seen
A big open space but how to begin
The start of the tale just wont slide in
...

As Re travels across the skies
and another Pharaoh is laid to rest
his spirit will soar and fly
while they lay a sceptre across his chest.
...

6.

When the day has turned to night
And the moon has blocked the light
A vision of safety can’t be found near
Now he’s too far away to hear
...

What if I look back on my life and say
I didn’t know how to live, love, laugh or play?
What if I look back and my life and think
I didn’t try everything, I let myself sink?
...

A whisper in the wind,
A breath of air no longer there,
Someone in limbo.
Can words seep through
...

Gods come and go as belief soars and disbands
And Death becomes real with his scythe in hand
The beat of the drum is yearning
And to the beat the world keeps turning
...

Death comes on swift wings
To those who battle takes
Their corpse immobile on the ground
While their spirit floats on high
...

La Luna Del Cacciatore – The Hunter’s Moon

Let’s play a game,
guess my name and live.
Landscapes evolved
yet I remained.

Stalking the night on feather light toes
I hear whispers on the wind.
I remain without shadow
while a life bleeds away.

My next victim waits,
your saviour around the corner.
I taste the death of strangers
and mourn the death of friends.

I loved and lost,
I felt the skin of another.
The sweetest blood could never taste
like my lovers kiss.

I sense your thoughts and fears
as we walk through the city dusk.
Taking notes and searching
for your own immortality.

I can show you death,
or everlasting life.
The choice is yours,
when the time comes.

I have a family,
they all slumber now.
The lichen, my brother
and my enemy.

My life’s tattooed to my being
in my second chance.
Flesh to ashes, ashes to dust
I will live on.

My coffin shades me
in my daytime coma.
Locked deep underground
with no disturbance.

What I wouldn’t give
to watch one last sunrise
before perpetual slumber.
Have you guessed yet?
