I float through the shadows of the night,
barely aware of my surroundings.
Lost in thought, I realize that I will never forget her,
even though I wish the memories would fade away.

As we walk slowly down the dark streets laughing,
I start thinking of how good a friend she is.
I always enjoy every minuet I spend with her.
Every minuet I am not with her,
...
I know that she is not here…
I did not know when she left,
and I don’t know where she is…
...
I now stand in our favorite spot.
I can hear the echoes of her laughter
mixed with our favorite songs playing in the background.
I often find myself wondering around this place
...
In the shadows,
she is there beside me.
I can see her in my mind,
and she walks with me.

Escaping The Emptiness (Fading Away)
I float through the shadows of the night,
barely aware of my surroundings.
Lost in thought, I realize that I will never forget her,
even though I wish the memories would fade away.
I now feel that I will eventually find someone new.
I feel as if I can replace the space
that has been occupied by only shadows and darkness,
which is now trying to take control of my life.
I am not sure what I am to do,
but I better figure it out if I ever want to escape
these feelings of emptiness.
