Mario Rivero Comments

Mario Rivero, whose real name was Mario Cataño Restrepo (born in Envigado, Colombia, in 1935, he died in Bogotá on April 13,2009) was a Colombian poet, journalist and art critic, singer of tangos in his youth.

He was called ''poet of the urban'' by his themes around the life of the city, the streets, the hopelessness, the melancholy of the suburb and the popular language, all addressed in a direct tone, conversational and free of lyricism.

Mario Rivero (Mario Cataño Restrepo, nació en Envigado en 1935 y falleció en Bogotá el 13 de abril de 2009) fue un poeta colombiano, periodista y crítico de arte. Se le llamó ''poeta de lo urbano'' por los temas que en torno a la vida de la ciudad, las calles, la desesperanza, la melancolía del suburbio y el lenguaje popular, abordó en un tono directo, conversacional y exento de lirismos.
