Mary Wright Poems

I tried to write a song today
A song about my Chevrolet
A shiny black and silver gray
I tried to sing my song today.
...

We spent time with Nanny
At that old ranch house
On Sacramento Street;
A moderate little home
...

Walking across the grounds
I had an epiphany
I had never wanted easy dreams
I only wanted to be in love
...

I've always known of your disguise
And though I speak to you
Does not mean that you are real
But I would never disrespect you
...

The Best Poem Of Mary Wright

My Shiny Cheverolet

I tried to write a song today
A song about my Chevrolet
A shiny black and silver gray
I tried to sing my song today.

I tried to feel alive today
And live my life a better way
To accept my fate come what may
No matter what life sends my way

I tried to write a poem today
I worked that poem all dammed day
I could not feel the music play
What it was I needed to say

Then I met you, an angel on my way
Someone to share my love in life's café
I met you - I met you - I met you
La La La La La La La La La La

If I climbed to the highest cloud
I would shout out loud and proud
To the wonder I see in your eyes
Chasing dreams across cloudy skies
To greet the world with great surprise

Cause I met you, an angel on my way
Someone to share my love in life's café
I met you - I you - I met you
La La La La La La La La La La

Let's take a ride in my Chevrolet
We will take on life come what may
We will polish the shiny silver parts,
And share the music in our hearts...

La La La La La La La La La La

Did you write a booklet of poems including The Land? I wanted to read it on the World Poetry Cafe Show.
