When the sunrise’s shining promise
Of another twenty four hours
Made me want to cry,
And the sunset bored me
With orange indecisiveness,
(A slow death for a pitifully lifeless day)

With these gloomy thoughts,
Ten thousand epitaphs ready in my head
And a polished new chisel,
I found a dark place
And began work on the M.
By the time I reached the second T
