Looking out the window I can see
vistas unlimited that stretch beyond
mu neighbor's backyard. All winter
he and I have barely glimpsed one

If only I had the power to confer
on you and yours all power
to free America
from its greed

Far to the north
in a country of spruce
and rushing rivers
a young goldsmith

Like petals on a yellow flower,
all sticky and sweet for the bee-
though each lasts a brief hour,
some essence they share is key
