Where Is Home.. Truly
Where is home... truly
I often wonder why I feel like this..
Am I unpatriotic?
Am I a traitor?
Hmm I wonder.
Where is home...truly?
Is it your birth place
Is it your comfort zone
What about the years of your childhood;
What about the place where you first learnt to walk and talk;
What about the place where you
made friends and foes;
where you became a woman from a girl
Where you got your knowledge and lessons
Where your people are;
the relationships, the bonds & the breakups
Where your family is.. your loved ones
But it always goes back to the time
The time you first breathed a sense of freedom
A sense of space
Where you felt your independence
Where you felt your accomplishments
Where you felt your appreciation
And acknowledgement
Where you can have your voice heard
Without being muffled by the patriarchal society
And able to live life your way
Able to express your feelings
Able to lose the fear
The fear of being safe and secure
The fear of walking on the road
Without looking for predators
Without a fork in your pockets
Without being surrounded by lustful eyes
With wind in your face
And breeze in your hair
With a heart full of aspirations
With a mind full of ambitions
With a body full of strength
Ready for anything
Ready for everything
Ready to live life
Ready to see the beauty of your surrounding
Ready to breathe in and out fearlessly
And even though your motherland
Is full of mystical beauty
So full of energy and colours
The land of yoga and mindfulness
And loving and caring people
Lush greenery and beautiful backwaters
The thrill of travelling on local trains
The thrill of scaling mountains
The thrill of watching cricket & other games
With adrenaline bursting in ur veins
Along with bewilderment of politics,
Corruption and mafia
With harthal & protests
With high intellect IT as well as loafers
With the skilled doctors as well as the money minded ones
The sheer beauty of nature
The mindfulness
The peace
The lady with a bright red shawl
Seen in the misty shades in agra
The majestic Taj and the monuments
The temples, mosques and churches
Where everyday you are in touch with God
In one way or the other.
So what is it you call a home
Is it this adopted land of beauty
Of highly meticulous life
And organized days
A sense of safety and security
A sense of peace and happiness
Am I a traitor? No
Am I unpatriotic? No
Did I lose my love for my country? No
Will I ever forget my motherland? No.
Ah...Now i can finally move on
With Merlion in my heart
And Bharat Mata in my soul
A blend of both in my being
Feeling a sense of relief
A sense of peace
A feeling of happiness and contentment.
Regardless of race, regardless of religion
In this beautiful country
Which I call, my home, truly.
