? ? ? ? ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Poem by Hamd Ejaz

? ? ? ? ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

i have wondered through the forests, deserts, mountains, valleys!
i have wondered through the castles, mansions, palaces, galleries
trying to find the answer to my questions!
i have travelled through the dense; deserted; hostile; hospitable places
trying to find why? why me? !

why did i fell for you?
why did you hate me?
why did you reject me?
why did you curse me?
why couldn't you ever love me?
why was i made to suffer my the hands of the person; i love the most?

when i saw the green-growing forests
the leaves; the trees; the bushes swung in life!
they scoffed; scorned and sneered at me!
'our's is a life full of green, gleam and gay'
'halt O outsider, pale imposter! this is not your path! '

i turned to the life-less deserts; looking for my answer
the lifeless sand began whirling; the haunting winds began shrieking
the sands surrounded me; the hot winds screamed
'we are a wilderness; full of death; dejection and disgust'
'turn away O ghastly trespasser! it is not your life, we require! '

i climbed the mountains; may be the heavens; might answer my question
the mighty monstrous mountain began to shudder
like a giant it came to life; my feet began to tremble!
'i speak to God; i am all mighty and powerful! '
'descend at once O downtrodden transgresser! it is not your weakness, i need! '

i moved through the beautiful valleys; wondering if it might have the answer
the beautiful scenery and the fountains sprang in life!
like an elixir of radiance and rage; it began to whisper!
'this is land of the beautiful, only beauty belongs here! '
'turn back O spiteful Soul! it is not your ugliness; we share! '

i travelled through the majestic halls and mausoleums
none could answer my quibble
none of the strong; none of the feeble
there is always light at the end of the tunnel; they say
there is always a silver lining under a cloud; they say!

to all those wise people; i ask!
why was i born to endure?
why was i born to be obscure?
why are the tears; i have always tasted?
why are the sorrows; i have always faced?
