07 And When You Told Me
and when you told me
you could love me
I could feel my body reacting.
Not the tightening cluster in my chest
not the nauseating compulsion in my gut
and not the initial panic telling me
to run, run, run.
But there was a sweet feeling
that can only be happiness
calming me down
and so I drew my breath
and rested my feet
and realized that I could really
love you to
