087. After Sixteen Years Poem by Dipankar Sadhukhan

087. After Sixteen Years

Rating: 5.0

Few days ago at a lonely night
I was busy in composing verse.
Suddenly my cell rang.
When I took it, ringing stopped.

An unknown call
Came to a known cell.
Soon I called back
To know who was calling me.

Then I heard the same voice
Which I heard sixteen years ago.
Time passed; the world changed
But nothing changed in that voice.

I heard - How are you?
It's me whom you loved with heart.
Quickly the strings of my heart
Rang like the morning church bell.

I said - O, you!
For whom I have been exiled
For sixteen years
But you are still in my heart.

I said everything -
I have grown up.
Now I am a mature happy youth.
The wings of poesy give me everything.

Nothing happens to lament.
My heart is filled with joy
As you are always within me
And I speak to you every time.

No matter if I never meet you.
Once I lost everything.
Now I have gained all
Because of you and your Love.

Then I heard - Time changed.
Once I had everything.
Now I have nothing.
My soul cries for you day and night.

I said - Time passed.
Now Love has carried me to Heaven.
Everything happens
On the grace of the Almighty.
