2013 - Roses And Thorns Poem by Light Sakpere

It's Christmas again
and here I am
standing by the mirror
counting back December to January.
Hmm, it has not been a bad year -
Every battle I fought; I won,
I am the one writing this now; of course.

Enemies crept into the family as one of us to spy on us
2013, they mocked at us -
they betrayed our trust.
Kinsmen themselves, lacking understanding;
they sold our trust, some even fought us
But every battle I fought; I won -
I'm the one writing this now, of course.

Roses blooms on thorns
I got some blessings too, of course.
To those with silver and gold, it may not mean much
But for 2013,
every battle I fought and won,
of course, I learnt a lot.
I thank God also, for the Roses that bloomed on thorns.
