208 ~ Through The Door Poem by stan pelfrey

208 ~ Through The Door

through the door
came a quick, soft breeze
that had bounced off trees
through the door
I looked for him
but where he was standing
the lights were dimmed

he paraded away into the dark
away from the light
somewhere in between
in a kind of surreal night

he won’t be coming
through the door for tea
that back door man
has lost his key

through the door
came the stench of whiskey
breath of the moon over the sea
through the door
I saw the movie on
death came soft, the leader
was gone

I found this poem to be captivating, Stan. I like the tone of it all the way through... Nice job. An Empty Doorway An empty doorway stood alone in the presence of his ghost - and recollected memories of such days gone by. And for the moment there was spent the time it takes to walk away... to witness such a fleeting host - with mere memories to indemnify in the time it takes to say goodbye. dan tharp
