#267 Somehow You Did



I was alone, rather isolated,
I let you in.
At first sight, I knew you were the one,
You weren’t.
I carried your picture with me always,
I can’t look now.
I took you on my midnight walks,
You walked away.
I knew that “nothing’s gonna change my world”,
Somehow you did.

I held your hand and promised forever,
You let go.
I gave you my all, my everything,
You gave it back.
I was in love completely and truly,
You broke me.
I was a dreamer, off in Dreamland,
You woke me.
I said “nothing’s gonna change my world”,
Somehow you did.

I believed in a brighter future,
The future’s bleak.
You asked me to be strong, no matter what,
I’m not.
I promised somehow I’d move on,
I can’t.
I knew someday you would come back,
You’re not.
I thought that “nothing’s gonna change my world”,
Somehow you did.
