#286 Lynsey Nichole - Poem by Jimmie Arrington
Was it all in my head or was it real?
The burning says it was true.
Were those nights perfect and ideal
Or was I just dreaming with you?
It seems I know very little these days,
Facts are blurring with fiction.
But one thing that’s clear within the haze
Is my heart’s new conviction.
I thought I could never feel again,
Life was a waning, dismal song.
But suddenly within the stormy rain,
It seems you’ve proved me wrong.
Did you know my heartbeat skips
Every time I hear you speak?
And when a giggle escapes your lips,
It echoes in my mind for a week?
Though you fly on someone else’s wings,
I’m drowning but not sunk.
Cause no matter what the future brings,
I’ll always be your Cattail Punk.
Tonight as I picture your beautiful face
I can’t suppress my silly grin.
And in another time or another place,
Who knows what could have been...
