#287 Whatever The Reason Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#287 Whatever The Reason

Maybe it’s the way your hair drapes
Down on your face, hiding one eye.
Maybe it’s the way a smile escapes,
Shining brighter than the morning sky.

Maybe it’s the way your deep eyes glint
The warmest blue I’ve ever seen.
Maybe it’s your cheek’s rosy tint,
So untouched and so pristine.

Maybe it’s the way the words you say
Are softer than when angels sing.
Maybe it’s the way each breaking day
Is perfect while you’re still breathing.

Maybe it’s the way your acoustic guitar
Sits securely upon your lap.
Maybe it’s the way I wish on a star
That I could wrap you like your strap.

Maybe it’s the way you tilt your head
As it gently rests upon your hand.
Maybe it’s the way I’m filled with dread,
Seeing you wear another’s silver band.

Maybe it’s cause you’ll never be with me,
You’ll never see my point of view.
But whatever the reason might be,
I’m madly in love with you.
