#290 A Distant Memory Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#290 A Distant Memory

I remember there was sorrow,
With fears about tomorrow.
There was a lost and lonely guy
With questions of when and why.
He believed in love but learned
The lover always ends up burned.

I remember there was betrayal
By a girl with false portrayal.
There was shaken faith and heartache
With forlorn tears which made him quake.
And he prayed all this soon would be
No more than a distant memory.

I remember the day it changed,
The day his life had rearranged.
The clouds parted and came the sun
To undo the wrongs that had been done.
So suddenly his doubts and fears
Changed into joyful smiles and cheers.

I remember a girl came along
Whose voice became his favorite song.
She gave more love than he’d ever seen
In books or on the movie screen.
And all his sadness seemed to be
Nothing but a distant memory.
